Cornea Research
The Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight & Hearing has committed $25,000 for corneal tissue research by Dr. Tueng Shen, with the intent of making this an annual grant. This support from the Foundation will allow Dr. Shen to spend one day each week on research to advance the science of corneal tissue transplantation. One of the areas she will explore is whether new cornea tissue can be regenerated from existing live tissue.
Dr. Shen is a surgeon at the University of Washington Medical Center. She received her M.D. from Harvard and her Ph.D. from MIT.
